Goa Trip - Part 3

We wasted almost half of our second day because we did not wake up early, so not to repeat the same mistake this time we all set alarm(s) on our phones before sleeping and we were up early for an awesome third day in Goa. Today we had planned to visit Bom Jesus Church, but we also wanted to check out Chapora fort. One of my friends had suggested that Chapora fort is a must visit, so that's where we went first. From Mapusa it took us around 15 minutes to reach the fort. It was a very hot day, thus we made sure that we parked our bikes under the shade of a tree. We trekked to the top of the fort in no time, the fort was easily accessible. The fort had nothing special (That's what we thought when we entered), it was a barren land with a small architectural structure at the center.

It is when we started exploring the fort that we found a special place from where we could see the waves hitting the shore and marveled at its beauty.

We wrapped up by clicking a few pictures and then we were back on the road en-route Bom Jesus Church. When we reached we parked our bikes and entered the premise of the church. There were so many huge trees which helped us to catch our breath and recover from the hot sun. This was the second time I was visiting the church and it was still a magnificent experience coming here. We entered the church and prayed for some time in silence. It always feels good to just sit in church in the silence and think, so that is what I was doing.

Once we were done praying, we came out in search for some water. So we reached this restaurant opposite to the church to have some water. Granal suggested that we have lunch here, everyone agreed because it was very hot to go somewhere else. Somehow it just did not feel right to me. While we were having water I quickly searched for a place to eat on Zomato (a very handy app to have in such situations) and this is when I found the restaurant where we had the best food in our foodie expedition in Goa, "Edwards Yard" one restaurant I will always remember to visit again when I am back to Goa. The food here is exceptional. We tried out a lot of dishes mainly sea-food and it was yumm! Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was awesome and the best part was that in the end the bill was very reasonable. We ate here for almost four hours and when we were almost done it started raining. So we waited here for some more time talking to the folks who run this amazing restaurant, they were really happy to serve us and we thanked them much for the incredible food. The restaurant has a bunch of amusing posters on the wall that are an eye catcher.

Later we went back to Baga to return the bikes. At this moment it felt like we should have had some more days in Goa (That's always the feeling when we are on a trip!). We came back to Mapusa by bus. We explored the market and then shopped for some bebinca, cashews, sausages and wine to bring back home. We boarded the bus in the night and the next day we were all back to our regular lives in Pune. This trip was the one we longed for and it exceeded our expectations. Until next time...
